ProfileMy name is Vickie Hyam, married, middle aged, with grown up children, I have been an active gym user for many years. At the beginning I was going by myself and not achieving much, I knew I needed help! An old school friend became my Personal Trainer and I’ve never looked back. I still use a Personal Trainer myself.
In 2021 I decided I wanted to see how far I could take my fitness journey. With a controlled diet and fitness plan I achieved it when I pushed myself to step onto a stage for the first time in a bodybuilding competition with BNBF (British Natural Bodybuilding Federation). I made the British Finals at my first attempt at the age of 49! This was an incredibly eye-opening experience for me, it taught me much about myself and the human body and what you can achieve.
My self-confidence grew as I recognised what an incredible piece of kit my body had become – and I was totally in control of it! It improved my mental health and helped me cope with natural changes in my body that happen with age.
Why Do I Concentrate On Resistance Training? Whilst cardio training indeed has its benefits to the body, and I do support it, I have found that regular strength/resistance training provides a better overall body improvement on so many different levels.
