Phil is a qualified strength coach with British Weight Lifting and British Powerlifting. He is also a qualified Kettlebell and Functional Fitness instructor with British Weight Lifting. He is qualified evidence-based Nutrition Coach in health and exercise too. Along with his partner Helen, also a qualified Boxercise instructor, he runs two dedicated strength training sessions for older adults (50+) at NRGym based in Keighley, where he integrates Boxercise into the fitness sessions. He has practised and taught various martial arts over almost 40 years, starting with Shotokan Karate, Aikido, and Atemi-Jujutsu, but for most of that time he focused on mastering Chinese unarmed and armed martial arts and taijiquan. Philip recently retired from teaching at the University of Leeds, School of Medicine and now focuses on helping older adults build their confidence and strength with evidence-based fitness sessions. Both Philip and Helen offer tailored one to one sessions with people of all backgrounds keen to improve their health, fitness and quality of life.
